Process

This project started with an illustration. My wife had originally gifted me a Rick & Morty-style portrait, and when I decided to update my website, I reached out to the same freelance artist for custom artwork.

With the visuals in place, I built a cohesive design system. I crafted the color palette and typography, making sure everything complemented the artwork. The site itself was coded in HTML & CSS with the fullPage.js plugin, allowing for vertical and horizontal scrolling for a more dynamic navigation experience.

Since I prefer structured, reusable components, I coded everything as a mini design system in Fractal (a tool I often used back then—today, it would be Storybook).

Outcome

The result was a playful yet structured website that balanced personality with usability. The custom illustrations made it feel uniquely mine, while the underlying design system ensured flexibility and consistency. The full-page navigation created an engaging way to explore content, making the site feel more interactive and fluid.

This project was a mix of experimentation and craftsmanship, combining handcrafted visuals with systematic design thinking.
